Edinburg is a town in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 131 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bangor Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located between the towns of Argyle and Howland along Maine State Route 116 on the west bank of the Penobscot River.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.01 square miles (90.68 km), all of it land.
As of the census of 2010, there were 131 people, 53 households, and 41 families residing in the town. The population density was 3.7 inhabitants per square mile (1.4/km). There were 69 housing units at an average density of 2.0 per square mile (0.8/km). The racial makeup of the town was 99.2% White and 0.8% Native American.
There were 53 households of which 24.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.2% were married couples living together, 3.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 9.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 22.6% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.76.
The median age in the town was 47.1 years. 19.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 22.1% were from 25 to 44; 35.9% were from 45 to 64; and 16.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 49.6% male and 50.4% female.
As of the census of 2000, there were 98 people, 44 households, and 28 families residing in the town. The population density was 2.8 people per square mile (1.1/km²). There were 54 housing units at an average density of 1.5 per square mile (0.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.94% White and 3.06% African American.
